A PLATFORM BUILT FOR THE FUTURE OF THE VALLEY

THE MATSU IS LEADING.

While Anchorage struggles with crime, congestion, and crumbling infrastructure, District 2 offers space, safety, and a workforce ready to build the next chapter of Alaska's economy. This is a platform built around seven commitments: connecting people and port, wiring every corner of the borough, removing barriers to healthcare, completing Port MacKenzie's potential, building housing that matches our growth, hardening emergency systems, and running government that actually listens.

Regional Mobility and Transit

Keep and possibly expand Valley Transit services to include multiple stops in Anchorage to provide more flexibility for commuters. Park-and-ride expansion along the Parks Highway, a Mat-Su-led multimodal transit authority, and smart growth strategies that connect port, rail, and people without sacrificing open space. Begin conversations with communities along the Glenn Highway corridor from the Valley to Anchorage to explore the creation of a light rail system that could reshape regional mobility for generations.

Healthcare Access and Reform

Push for repeal or exemption of the state Certificate of Need law, support urgent care centers and mobile clinics in the Valley, and tie telehealth delivery to broadband expansion so care reaches every household without a two-hour drive to Anchorage.

Port MacKenzie and Industrial Access

Rail spur completion, intermodal freight investment, and last-mile road connections between the port and Palmer and Wasilla. Attract logistics, Arctic research, and energy companies to a port precinct that becomes Alaska's backbone for critical minerals and defense supply.

Resource Development

The West Susitna corridor holds world-class gold, copper, antimony, and critical mineral deposits ready for responsible development. We will work to have AIDEA fund and build the access road, recouping costs through tolls on developers and recreationists. Clean coal at Wishbone Hill and the Jonesville sites, combined with Port MacKenzie as the export gateway, means the Valley builds a permanent industrial tax base that takes the pressure off residential property owners.

Public Safety That Matches Our Growth

The unincorporated areas of Mat-Su now outpace the incorporated cities in population, yet no dedicated police force serves these neighborhoods. State Troopers are stretched thin on suburban calls when they should be protecting remote rural communities. We will pursue a standalone Borough police department, built from the ground up to reflect our values, geography, and community needs, with a phased rollout starting closest to Palmer and Wasilla. Residents in subdivisions deserve the same protection as those in cities. Public safety is a core government service, and a growing Valley deserves more than borrowed coverage and delayed response times.

Transparency and Fiscal Discipline

Regular public forums in Palmer and across the borough, simplified citizen budgets showing where every tax dollar goes, fiscal restraint paired with foundational infrastructure investment, and neighborhoods empowered to shape land use, parks, and trail priorities.

This isn't about left or right. It's about smart. Better schools, safer neighborhoods, reliable infrastructure, and services we can count on. Let's stop waiting for Anchorage to fix itself and build the next Alaska right here in District 2.
