These are the issues I would tackle first. Knowing that overlap exists, and because of permitting, laws, and funding, these are not going to happen on day one, but on day one we can start the process of getting them moving.

Property Tax Relief
Begin the process of delivering real relief to residential property owners through a homestead exemption or a phased, revenue-verified glide path toward zero residential mill rate, without gutting the borough's fiscal floor.

Resource Development
Engage AIDEA, the state delegation, and industry partners to advance the West Susitna Access Road and Port MacKenzie industrial corridor, building the industrial tax base that reduces the burden on homeowners.

Transportation
Launch microtransit pilots using newly available FTA 5307 funding, push for Assembly representation on the MVP planning board, and begin coordinating the Park-and-Ride and commuter rail conversations along the Parks and Glenn corridors.

Affordable Housing
Convene builders, lenders, planners, and workforce representatives to produce a practical Valley housing plan that addresses missing-middle density, permitting friction, and workforce housing near job centers.

Commercial and Professional Development
Begin work on designated business relocation zones near Palmer, a targeted business attraction program to compete with Anchorage, and borough procurement policies that favor local vendors and professional services firms.

Trade and Vocational Training
Partner with local employers, the borough school district, and UAA to build dual-credit trade programs, apprenticeship pipelines, and STEM initiatives that align curriculum with the careers West Susitna and Port MacKenzie will create.

Public Safety
Begin the planning and community engagement process for a Borough police department or contracting with Palmer and Wasilla PD to handle these policing functions, serving unincorporated areas, starting closest to Palmer and Wasilla, while ensuring EMS and fire services are funded to match our population growth.
